Meet The Team

Doyle Sails has been a presence in the Maritimes for many years, providing full service for local and visiting sailors. The Halifax loft is part of a network of independently owned and operated lofts, each with access to the global resources offered Doyle International in New Zealand. The loft recently came under new management and has undergone some updates and changes to improve the workflow and customer experience.

Luke Porter

The new owner of Doyle Halifax, Luke brings many years of experience in the marine industry to the loft. Luke is a lifelong sailor with a practical knowledge across wide spectrum of sailing. Cruising, racing, ocean passages, tall ships, power boats - it’s all there. Luke is also a veteran race officer and judge and is often seen helping with events in the area. Luke is usually the one answering the phone and talking to customers coming in the door while also managing the purchasing, invoicing and work flow. Now and then he even gets a chance to do some sewing!

Andrew “Brad” Bradbury

Brad, as he’s universally known, is the head sailmaker and lofting genius and core of the company. Brad has been making sails possibly since before sails existed and there’s very little he doesn’t know about the process. His frank assessment of problems and quick solutions are highly valued, as well as his ability to build and repair almost anything. Technical questions will usually be passed to Brad and he’s usually to be found behind a sewing machine making things happen.

Rachel Hubbard

Rachel is the newest recruit, coming to the loft with a keen desire to learn, an eye for detail and a circumnavigation on the Picton Castle under her belt. Rachel spends her days sewing, assembling and learning the art and science of sail making from Brad.

Kate

Kate is the official greeter at the Doyle Halifax loft and is usually found sunbathing by the front door.
