New Sails

A wrapped racing car with the number 66 on it, likely in a workshop or storage area.

We can build sails for almost any scenario imaginable right here in Dartmouth.

We have access to the full range of sail cloths and choose the one for your sails based on the intended use and price range. Cross cut sails are usually laid out right on our table by our head sailmaker Brad. Radial designs come from our stable of designers and are computer cut before getting to us. These designs are then assembled and finished here. The top end Stratis and Delta sails are constructed elsewhere before coming to us for finishing. Nothing comes through our loft without us being involved in the construction.

Call, email or drop by to talk to us about your needs and how we can best address them. All our sails have a one year warranty and we are always willing to make any adjustments to ensure you’re happy.

Cradle Covers

Sails need protection when not in use.

Everyone knows that sunlight is the worse enemy of sails and they need protection when not is use. We build cradle covers to not only protect your mainsail but also to make raising and lowering it a breeze. Our cradle covers have been constantly improved over the years based on our experiences and customer feedback. The current version is even easier to hoist from, simple to install, can be tucked out of the way if need be and gives your sail a safe, protected home. We can make cradle covers for all boats, including non-traditional rigs such as Nonsuchs. If you’d like to go old school we can also make traditional sail covers and deck bags for hanked-on jibs.

Sail Repair

A sailboat race on a lake with multiple sailors aboard, large white sails, and a colorful spinnaker with red, blue, and white stripes catching the wind.

You break them, we fix them!

Sails can take a beating and will inevitably get damaged. Since we build sails from scratch we can also fix almost any damage. Tears, holes, wear spots or just general usage can all be repaired. As with everything, it’s always best to address a small problem before it becomes a big problem. Repairs that come in during the sailing season are given priority to get you back on the water as quickly as possible, especially before and during regattas. We always need to see the sail in order to get an idea of what’s involved so bring in your sick and wounded and let us make them whole once more.

Sail Inspections

Not sure what shape your sail is in? We can tell you.

As sails age it can be hard to tell how much life is left in them. We’re happy to spread them out and inspect them for you and tell you exactly what’s going on. We identify problem areas, the general condition of the sail, what work might be needed and how much longer they can be used. Used boats often come with significant inventories and this is the perfect way to see what you actually want to use.

Winter Storage

Shelves filled with sails stored in a warehouse or storage room.

We only use our sails for half of the year.

We offer winter storage for all sails. The storage includes an inspection and minor repairs and if we find something significant we’ll give you a call so you can decide what to do. The sails are stored upstairs in our loft, warm and dry and ready for pickup in the spring with no surprises for you. Save space and have one less thing to worry about at the start of the season.

Canvas Work

Sails aren’t the only fabric on a boat.

Dodgers, biminis, sail covers and winter boat covers all take a beating over their lifetime and we can repair them all. Window replacement in dodgers or cockpit surrounds is a common task as well patching holes and wear spots. Winter covers especially develop holes or burst seams while doing their job of protecting your boat and need to be patched. We can do all that.

Tides Track & Rigging

Sail with metal hardware and straps laid out on a work table in a workshop setting.

Sails are just part of the equation.

Sails attach to masts and rigging so it make sense that we can help you with that too. We are a dealer for Tides Tracks, an add-on sail track for mainsails that delivers friction-less raising and lowering without the cost and complexity of mast cars. We install the track and change your mainsail over to the Tides slides so you can experience the delights of trouble free mainsail handling.

Roller furling systems are the backbone of many boats but they can have problems like everything else. We can help with that as well as general rigging issues since having good sails won’t help much if your mast is unstable.

Everything Else

What else can we help you with?

We have the space and sewing machines to address a wide range of work. We also stock batten material, have a range of sail hardware to hand and access to almost anything else boat related. If you have a sewing job or need help with a boat problem, contact us to see how we can help.
